Swimming Sports

On Monday the 7th the whole senior syndicate went down to the lido at did our swimming sports.
There was non-competitive and competitive.  I did 2 of the non-competitive and those were backstroke and free style but there was way more. In free style I got 3rd so i earned 1 point for my team and then in backstroke i came 2nd and earned 2 points for my team.

i really in joyed doing swimming sports and i am also proud of coming 3rd and 2nd.

Year 6 year book

My earliest memory at C.S.N.S. was My first day of school. There were 5, kind year 5 girls. They loved to play with me and I always played with them.

I am a successful College Street Kid because I always use the habits of heart and habits of mind and I do my best in everything and I am always getting better at my learning every year.

The highlight of my time at College Street was Year 6 it was the best year because we got to manage our own learning for example we got to choose what we do and when we do it which is really good because if the teacher says you have to do writing now you might not feel like doing it so you won't do as well as you would’ve done if you wanted to do it. Also we got to do stuff that no one else got to do and most of all Room 10 and 11 ( GRI11 ) had the most amazing teachers Miss Gordon and Mr Robertson.

I have been involved in Jrock in year 4 , Go For Gold Drama , Art Club and kapa haka.

The things I will miss most about College Street are all my friends , the amazing teachers and all the different stuff we get to do throughout the year.

Next year I am going to Be moving to Hawke's bay in February next year and will be going to Hawke's bay intermediate

In the future I would like to an Interior and exterior designer or a professional dancer because those are the two things i love to do.

C.S.N.S. Gala

On Sunday the 8.11.15 it was the c.s.n.s. gala and i went with my mum. There was lots of stuff to do at the gala but my favourite things were the cup cake decorating and when Mr Kennedy got water splashed all over him. For the cup cake decorating i made put lots of lollies on it but they didn't stick so i just ate them without the cup cake. The funniest part of the gala for me was when Mr Kennedy was sitting down on a chair and he was thinking that no one would hit the target for the bucket to fall on him but right then someone hit it and it was a 5 year old and Mr Kennedy made a really weird face it was so funny.  

WEEK ONE BACK TO SCHOOL

on Tuesday and Wednesday of week one term 4 our class have been working on our integrated unit witch is EVOLUTION. On Tuesday we made cars that had to run on ballon's and that was the first time we went into the learning pit and F.A.I.Led that means that it was our first attempted in learning we had to get ourself out of it and it was pretty hard. Then on Tuesday had to look at a photo and figure out how to make it. It was made out of paper and we had to cut it but we couldn't cut any peace if the paper out and put it in the bin. Thats when it happened again. It was what happened on Tuesday and it made us work really hard.  

School Holiday Beach House

On the first week of the school holidays my mum and I got to go to a BEACH HOUSE IN WANGANUI and it was really warm when we first arrived. First we unpacked all our stuff. After we had unpacked we went down to the beach which was just up ahead. At the beach there was the sea and then right behind us was a little lake that everyone was playing in so i straight away wanted to go in it. So I did. It was freezing cold then suddenly it dipped down and It was so cold that i almost drowned. I swam to the sand and got out and I didn't want to got in there again. After we had finished at the beach we went home and i had a shower then we went into Wanganui and went to Breakers restaurant for tea. It was yummy. Later we went to Virginia Lake and went for a walk around. it was almost time to go to sleep but first we whached a movie called Annabelle Green Gables part 1 and then one movie turned into 3 the other two were Anne of Green Gables 2 and My Girl 1. Then we went to bed. The next day we went to the beach then went to the warehouse and then to the super market. After we went home and watched My Girl 2 and then went to sleep. Then next day was the last day of being there so we packed up and hopped in the car to go home. On the way home we went to Mc Donald's to get something to eat and then we arrived home and got to see all my family again.

The Mind Lab

Yesterday the 22.09.15 Tuesday Gri11 went to The Mind Lab and we did heaps of activities.

  This activity we had to make cars that we were going to race. For this you had a one piece of card board that had cut up straws on the end of each side. Then you had a 4 CD disc's that you used for the tiers and pieces of foam to hold the tiers on, and then you also had a small motor, some wires with batteries that you had to put together and a little fan to put on the end of the motor. Last of all was tape to stick it all together.

 This is the stop motion animation and here we had a computer and a camera that connected up with the computer and the we had a scene and some toys that we could put there. For this to work you had to just slightly move the characters or else it wont look real. Did you know the Box Trolls movie was done like this.

 Next making music with wires and a computer game this was a cool thing to do. you needed some wires and a little plate with arrows from a computer on it like up, down, left, right and space. this way you could play a computer came with wires.

   This is 3D printing and we all got to design what ever we wanted on the computer and the the printed it out. Some of use got it on the day but the rest of us will het it in term 4.

This is the last one and we also need a motor and some wires with batteries in it for this one too.

these are called scribble bots and we used pens, motors, wires, a plastic cup and some tape.

my group failed a couple of times but the we got it to work it was amazing.

We all had so much fun at The Mind Lab and we are so proud of our selfs that we fund raised for it. 

The 10 dollar bill

Purpose: A fiction story to entertain the reader

Text Type: NARRATIVE

Aaaa help help as a 10 dollar bill fell down the drain. No says a little boy called Sam I need that he said. He found some rope lying on the ground and tied it around himself and got a kind old lady to hold it and jumped down the drain.

When He had finally gotten down the drain he could see the money but there was one problem whoosh whoosh he heard behind him. There was a big wave splash he fell into the water and lost site of the money up ahead was a waterfall. He took a risk and decided to go down it just seconds before he fell down the waterfall he figured he couldn't go down anymore the rope wasn't long enough. He tugged on the rope for the lady to pull him up.

On the way up he saw what he hadn't seen when he was going down and he was glad he didn't the walls were all slimy and rubbishy was stuck on it and mud everywhere well the more he thought about the mud on the walls he figured that it wasn't mud.

Once he got out he told the lady that the rope wasn't long enough. I can't get my money he said and started crying. She told him she would go buy some rope from the 2 dollar shop. He waited and waited for a couple of minutes and finally she came out with a giant rope that could go around the whole world well at least that's what he thought. They tried a second time. First they wrapped the rope around him then he hopped in down he goes again.

He reached the point he had come up to last time. Down he went and he fall down the waterfall and ended with a big hurtful splash on the hard ground. That's when he sore money everywhere from people who had lost their money down the drain too and in the corner was a lady called Tilly She said she had been stuck down here for years and she had been watching all the money come down. The money had her with her face on it. She said Every time she sore her face on one of those notes she felt like know one cared about her and made her feel even lonelier every time.

Sam said to her I will help you get out but first I need to get my money. He got his money and told Tilly to hold on to him. He tugged and the lady pulled them up.

When they were up the lady said who is this.

Sam said her name is Tilly.

Do you know who she is the lady said.

No said sam

She is the queen everyone has been looking for her the lady said.

Sam said i’m very sorry queen Tilly

No thank you sam said the queen.

I am very happy to be out of there. Thank you sam I Hope to see you again one day said the queen.

Sam said thank you to the lady and gave her a big hug

The lady left and then Sam ran into a store and got a nice little ornament and there she was his mum came out of the super market. He ran up to her and hug her tightly then gave her the owl.

She said thank you to Sam.

On the way home Sam told her what had happened and his mum promised him that she would never go anywhere without him ever again

How to make Crayon Candles

Crayon candles

By the end of this you should have a wonderful crayon candle that will be nice in your home.

For this you will need:

Old Crayons about 20

wick

container

pot

microwave

spoon

STEP:1                    First you will get the spoon, microwave if you don’t have an oven get a candle and light it then get the crayons. Get the crayons and the spoon break the crayon put it on the spoon and melt it over the oven in the pot or a spoon and melt it over the candle.   

STEP:2          Next once the crayons have melted and looks like liquid then put the wick in the middle of the container and start pouring all the liquid in any pattern you want for example on the side. To do that you will have to lift one of the sides up and pour it in time that.

STEP:3                   After you have done that repeat the last step over and over until the container is full.

STEP:4                  Now you will have to wait about an hour or 45 minutes to dry and then you will have a wonderful candle that will light up your room.

One sunny morning me the
shop owner of Hank’s dairy and i’m Hank so lets just carry on explaining it. DING DONG went my phone I just got a text from the lotto department and they said

Dear Hank’s dairy,

This week we will be giving selling a lotto ticket that is worth 100 million dollars and we will be giving you 200 lucky chances of winning the 100 million dollars hopefully you sell all of them. theses ones will be selling for 10 dollars each yes we know that is a lot but since the winning one is 100 million dollars we don’t want the winner to get it cheap and maybe if you could take it up a bit.

So I decided that I would do what they said first take it up to 15 dollars then I needed to get a gigantic lotto sign before tomorrow then lucky last I need to put out a letter in the newspaper.

2 hours later……

RING RING RING oh no i have to get up and sell the lotto tickets wait thats right I have the winning ticket to the lotto MMM…. maybe ill just by all the tickets or say i didn’t get any and just keep them for myself no no i can’t do that. Hello what would you like today ‘hi I was just wondering if you have any of the new lotto tickets’ yes yes we do would you like one ‘yes please’ ok here you go one lotto ticket 15 dollars please ‘WOW 15 DOLLARS ok I guess its worth it cause you might have a chance of winning 100 million dollars that would be nice here you go’ I just could not stand seeing one of my lotto tickets go but i guess that i’m going to have to get used to it.

My highlight from term 2 in GRI11

GO FOR GOLD PROGRAMME DRAMA & MUSIC

For go for gold this year it was amazing. I loved it it was so fun because we got to perform in front of the whole drama and music group. Most people had to step out if there confit zone and on of those people were me. We did Miming,Improvisation,Plays and making up our own acts but most times Miss Gordon told us the bad thing that had happened to her that morning and we acted that out. Our teacher for music was Miss Gordon and the teacher for drama was Mrs Liddell and when we first started we decided that we were going to join both of them and make performing arts. today july the first 2015 performing arts ended and for the end we picked something that we wanted to do that we learned throughout the term and perform it in front of the whole group I picked to do a play it was so fun and i enjoined it. I’ll miss performing arts.

So let's get started.

First of all on planet earth there are these creatures called humans the basically just eat, sleep and drink and they are not harmful at all but they might try kill you if the see you.and there are animals but just pretend you can't see them they will be fine.

Secondly there are buildings that are very tall and nice house and islands,beaches and different countries with different Cultures.

You will be staying in a lovely little sand house very close to the beach but sometime it might get flooded sometimes.

GRI11 explanation

Today I will be explaining to you what we do and how we work in grill I will be telling you if you use books or not where we get to work and how we are learning and managing our own learning

Do we use books or computers?

At the start of the year we were using our books but now we do not we all use computers or iPads and it is really helping us to learn how to use them. Now we know how to use Google docs google drive google slides Google sheets and google classroom.

How we work in GRI11

We have Google drive where we put all our work in and we have lots of folders. Next we have Google classroom and we have to look on there to see what kind of work we have to do which is in fast track. Fast track is like this timetable where it has our name and we put a url code in there where the teachers can go onto to see our work.

Where we work?

We are allowed to work anywhere in the classroom. We are to classrooms combined and in the

two classrooms we have 3 awesome hideouts that we are also allowed to work in. The reason we are allowed to w like that is because the teachers trust us and also the want us to have a look at how it will work out do teaching.ork

Managing our own learning

We manage our own learning so that we can understand how it will be in the real world because in normal teaching you just get bossed around by the teacher and that's not how the real world works. We need to know how to manage our own learning because we are going to intermediate next year so we are growing up and we need to know stuff like that.

I like the way we are learning because know one else at our school is as lucky as us and I am also excited about learning how to use iPads and computers.

CROSS COUNTRY

Bang went the gun to start the race the grass was wet and the land smelt like it was a cold morning,it had just rained and the sun was

just rising up into the blue sky.

We started of slow so that we could sprint at the end. Me and my friends were talking and laughing and just having fun.

The wet squishy grass stuck to my shoes as I was

trying my hardest to run. My arms were getting tired from swinging my arms back and forwards.

Now finally the 3 km run was almost over my mouth was dry and desperate for water and finally we were at the finish line.

Now that I had finished I was so proud of myself and I had so much fun.

I like to do cheerleading because you get to work in a team and you have to work together and you make lot of new friends

Mud down my throat

*Splash splash* my face was diving into the mud every time I tried to stand up. The path was narrow and the sides were slippery. My hand was digging into the ground and my feet were floating around in the watery mud. It wasn’t deep enough to stand up so I had to crawl and grip with my hands on the bottom of the mud. I was gripping and gripping so I could pull myself around and then my hand slipped out of the mud and my face went heading towards the brown stuff in front of me and then *gulp*. I had swallowed some mud and it wasn’t watery mud this time it was mud my mouth felt dry and full of thick gooey brown stuff. I thought to myself once I get to the end i will never be coming back in here again.

Dear Mr Kennedy and Miss holder

Firstly I strongly think we should keep our learning how it is because we love to learn like this and it helps our learning because we get to talk to people and ask them how to do it or help with anything.

Secondly just because we are young it does not mean we can not manage our own learning its like saying we don’t know how to feed our self or read but we can.

Thirdly why should we have to change it its not fear we learn really well miss Gordon and mr R are not just letting us go away and do whatever we won’t they are still telling us what to do like lets say they say to us go away and do you’re literacy we know what to do because we have it on google classroom and they can look at our stuff and see if we have done it so its just like normal learning but in a different way.

We should be able to keep our learning how it is because it helps us more and even on our blog there are people from all around the world like what we do in our classroom.

Just because you learned like that does not mean we have to learn like that we love the way we are learning and we are not going to stop it.

Free time is my best part of camp because you get to go swimming in the lake and go on the rope bridge and lots of other stuff like that. Its really fun and you just get to do what you want.

The rope bridge was so awesome our first free time everyone was on the rope bridge. There was a big thick rope in the water and then there was a thin yellow rope up the top where you

hold onto. It was just so fun everyone was swaying side to side.

There was a big long line up the hill and then at the bottom there where people flying in there air. It was the water slide and I wanted to go on it so I did. Finally it was my turn I hoped on the slide and I was sitting up and everybody put there hand out to high five me so I put my hand out to. Boom then I slashed in the water and time for me to go line up again

Yay swimming in the lake it was so fun and everybody was booming in from the edge and just swimming around and I didn’t like to put my feet on the ground because it was all slimy and yuck but it was still fun just splashing around in the water.

I liked free time because we got to just have fun and play around.
